The Proposal

For Christmas Whitney and Bruce were originally planning to go to their mutually favorite island of Puerto Rico. However, with Bruce’s job, it unfortunately didn’t work out. So instead Bruce suggested for them to go back to Egmont Key to get Whitney’s beach fix in.

On Christmas Eve, Whitney and Bruce take the ferry out to Egmont Key. They arrive on the island and it’s a gorgeous day! It’s warm, the sun is shining and Whitney is loving the fact that she can tan in December.  About 2 hours in, Bruce says, “I’m going to give you your Christmas gift early. Stand up and close your eyes. I have to put it together.” While he’s saying this he’s pulling out a set of pliers like he’s really going to put something together. So Whitney stands up and turns her back to him. Bruce said, “No baby you’re not following directions. Turn back around and close your eyes.” So Whitney did as she was told and when she opened her eyes Bruce was down on one knee and said, “Let’s finish the forever conversation. Will you marry me?” Continue reading “The Proposal”

Our Story

Whitney and Bruce met when she was on vacation and Bruce was working. Whitney’s nephew, Aiden, was turning 14 so she went down to St. Pete Beach to surprise him. The surprise went great and the following day, Quan, Whitney’s brother in law, arranged for everyone to take the ferry over to this island called Egmont Key.  Egmont Key is a small island off the cost of St. Petersburg that is a National Wildlife Refuge and Bird Sanctuary.

Whitney and her family get off the ferry and the island is beautiful!! They felt like they were in the Caribbean! Whitney notices a pretty handsome guy riding around on a golf cart in a police uniform. He rides past Whitney the first time and they caught eyes.  Whitney also eyed his hand to make sure there wasn’t a ring. The second time, Whitney and her nephew were in the water playing and he waved to them when he rode by. Whitney thought, okay he’s interested and Bruce thought, wow she’s beautiful. The 3rd time, Whitney had to stop him. She said, “Hey, I need your job! You have it made riding around on this beautiful island.” Whitney and Bruce talked for 45 minutes until it was time for them to head back to the ferry. They hit it off immediately and from there it was history. Bruce and Whitney have been talking every day since! Continue reading “Our Story”
